A budget is your saved spending plan. A savings goal records what you want to set aside. Neither creates money or moves it between accounts.

Spending budget

Check the budget’s current cycle and category allocations. Canonical recorded spending and the remaining amount belong to that cycle. An upcoming commitment is different from a posted transaction. If no plan is saved, the budget is unavailable. It is not a zero budget.

Savings goals

Progress can depend on recorded contributions or linked-account evidence. Missing or stale linked balances can prevent reliable progress calculations. Goals earmark money; they are not additional assets. Avoid adding goal amounts to an account balance as if they were separate funds.
