# Errors and recovery

> Handle permission failures, stale changes, pagination and temporary errors without unsafe retries.

Inspect both transport errors and MCP tool results. A successful HTTP response alone does not establish that the tool operation succeeded.

| Failure | Recovery |
| - | - |
| Authentication missing, expired or revoked | Complete the supported browser sign-in again. |
| Permission or account access denied | Ask the owner to review the grant; reconnect for newly authorized permissions. |
| Invalid arguments | Read the live tool schema and correct the request. Do not guess IDs or dates. |
| Cursor no longer valid | Restart with the exact intended filters and current authorization. |
| Record not found | Verify the exact ID and permitted accounts; do not search outside the grant. |
| Conflict or stale preview | Read current records and obtain a new preview for the intended change. |
| Rate limit | Respect server retry guidance and reduce concurrency. |
| Temporary service failure | Retry reads with bounded backoff. Report uncertainty if the result is unavailable. |

## Mutation retries

Keep the same request ID and identical arguments for a retry of the same operation. A lost response does not prove the operation failed. Inspect the existing receipt when available before attempting a new change.

## What to report

Include the client and version, approximate time and time zone, operation, redacted code and whether a request ID was reused. Keep credentials, cookies, codes and financial payloads out of support messages.
